Publish date April 27, 2021

Today Yum! Brands is proud to announce the Company has joined OneTen, a coalition of U.S. businesses leading a bold initiative to create career mobility and advancement opportunities for one million Black individuals in the U.S. over the next 10 years. To advance equity, OneTen partners like Yum! will develop, retain and advance diverse and underrepresented talent, more broadly, but with an explicit commitment to hire, upskill or promote Black talent without four-year degrees. Across Yum!’s U.S. brands, participation in this coalition would include supporting advancement initially to roles in restaurant general management and field leadership for company-owned restaurants and jobs in Yum!’s U.S. corporate offices.

“We are thrilled to join the OneTen coalition and take this step in our ongoing efforts to advance equity and career opportunity for underrepresented people of color across our brands,” said Yum! Brands CEO David Gibbs. “OneTen’s bold mission aligns well with our company’s values and our belief in all people, and I’m looking forward to participating in a collective effort that will undoubtedly have a positive impact in our industry, our current U.S. workforce and generations to come.

“The collective impact of companies partnering with OneTen will transform the U.S. landscape of job opportunities and talent development in positive and meaningful ways, and its roster of best-in-class organizations is a testament to the power of its mission,” said Tracy Skeans, Chief Operating Officer and Chief People Officer of Yum! Brands. “At Yum!, we recognize that attracting, retaining and developing diverse talent is critical to ensuring that we remain relevant as our industry and consumers evolve, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of something that will have a large scale, long-term impact.”

Signing onto the OneTen coalition directly aligns with Yum!’s global Unlocking Opportunity Initiative, which includes a $100 million commitment over five years to promote equity and inclusion, education and entrepreneurship for employees, frontline restaurant teams and communities around the world. Across KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and The Habit Burger Grill, and in close collaboration with Yum!’s franchisees, the Unlocking Opportunity Initiative builds on more than 20 years of investing in the company’s people-first culture.
