Yum! was founded in 1997, yet our four iconic brands are decades old with rich histories.

Born of the ambitions and grit of passionate entrepreneurs, our KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and The Habit Burger Grill brands have grown to include more than 59,000 restaurants in over 155 countries and territories, operated primarily by our approximately 1,500 franchisees. Our brands and franchisees open a new restaurant nearly every two hours, making Yum! Brands the world’s largest restaurant company.

As a result, Yum! was named to TIME Magazine’s 2023 list of the “Best Companies for Future Leaders,” ranking an impressive 32nd among all U.S. companies.

We are focused on driving market and franchise unit expansion with strong economics through Bold Restaurant Development. In 2023, our brands and franchisees opened more than 4,700 new restaurants. For 2024, we have our sights set on crossing the 60,000 global unit milestone.

 

Our other Growth focus areas include cultivating our portfolio of Relevant, Easy and Distinctive (RED) Brands that drive deep connections with consumers at every touchpoint.

We also lead our industry with our Unmatched Operating Capabilities that enable our brands and franchisees to recruit and equip team members to deliver great customer experiences. With these four growth drivers serving as our north star, we achieved strong results in 2023, crossing the $60 billion system sales threshold for the year.

Yum! is also an industry champion in digital and technology, engraining these capabilities into all aspects of our business.

These enable and accelerate easy experiences, operations and insights for our customers and restaurant team members while driving profitable growth for our franchisees. In 2023, Yum!’s digital sales approached $30 billion with over 50% of our sales now coming through digital channels. We’re focused on maximizing the value creation potential of our digital and technology platforms through the acceleration of AI capabilities in combination with fully leveraging the immense data assets we now own.
