Yum! employees gave the future of franchising an office tour
The Yum! Center for Global Franchise Excellence at the University of Louisville offers seasoned franchise sector leaders a one-year executive leadership track. Called the Accelerating Enterprise Growth Executive Leadership Residency, these participants recently toured the Louisville-based Yum! Restaurant Support Center.
Participants met with Yum! Sustainability Director Alecia Berry to learn how the company leverages its scale to lead industry-wide sustainability efforts and collaborates with operators to reduce energy usage, advance reusable packaging and institute entrepreneurial thinking to identify scalable, practical sustainability innovations.
Next, the cohort listened to Yum! Corp. Chief Legal Officer Carson Stewart (left) as he discussed trademark ownership, the importance of maintaining high operations standards, managing the effects of legislation across states and countries and more.
Yes, it's real! During a Restaurant Support Center tour, Yum! Head of Community Impact Kat Abner (right) offered the group a look at where the actual KFC secret recipe is housed. But they did not get much further than this because shhhh...it's a secret!
The students ended their tour with a few words from the Director of the Yum! Center for Global Franchise Excellence Kathleen Gosser, who also has a doctorate in Educational Leadership & Organizational Development. Having spent 35 years at KFC and Yum! before she transitioned to academia at the University of Louisville, Gosser knows the franchise ecosystem (and this building) very well!
