Institutional Investor magazine’s 2007 Corporate Rankings determine which American companies and chief executive officers in 62 sectors deliver the best results to investors, based on the opinions of hundreds of analysts and portfolio managers who collectively oversee trillions of dollars in investment assets.
The America’s Most Shareholder-Friendly ranking measures public companies that have mastered investor communications, corporate governance and value creation. The Magazine found that the winners have straight talking management who level with investors and keep shareholders happy with buybacks and dividends. Yum! Brands ranked #1 in the restaurant sector above its competitors.
For the America’s Best CEO ranking, Institutional Investor asked more than 1,000 analysts and portfolio managers at 486 money management firms the question: “Who is the best CEO in the sector for which you are responsible?” The respondents gave their first, second and third choices, which the Magazine weighted to calculate a score for each CEO. David C. Novak, Yum! Brands Chairman and CEO, was named the #1 Best CEO in the restaurant industry.
