Yum! Brands Global IT Recognized with 2013 InfoWorld/Forrester Enterprise Architecture Award

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky, October 11, 2013– Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE: YUM) has been named among five recipients for the 2013 InfoWorld/Forrester Enterprise Architecture Awards. The panel of judges from IDG’s InfoWorld, Forrester Research Inc. and Pennsylvania State University recognized Yum! Brands’ Global IT for their strategic approach, innovative focus and major impact on business.

Yum! TIA’s business and IT drivers specifically target the Company’s goal of becoming the leading digital restaurant company in the world. Understanding the need to shift from traditional mass marketing to a customer-focused, digital organization, TIA strives to meet customer expectations of value, convenience and speed by creating a world class customer experience. The team partners with divisions globally to define and drive the digital strategy by leveraging mobile ordering, social media, loyalty, digital coupons, etc.; moving customer interactions from anonymous to intimate.

The TIA team is focused on consumers’ expectations and determining how technology will make an impact on the future of the restaurant industry. Research conducted by the TIA group helps to inform key stakeholders of current customer experiences and act as a catalyst to improve the overall customer experience moving forward. The TIA team also presides over a global, face-to-face digital summit with more than 300 stakeholders across all divisions. Dynamic presentations trigger thoughtful dialogue between leaders within the organization, making the summit the digital event of the year.

The Enterprise Architecture Award, now in its fourth year, recognizes organizations whose architectural excellence has had major business impact. Presented by InfoWorld, Forrester Research and the Penn State University’s Center for Enterprise Architecture, this year’s Awards highlight the importance of developing a common framework for business and technology within which enterprise architects and their allies can plan and execute transformational change.

Each organization recognized developed an accurate, top-down view of how their current processes functioned, identifying redundancies, bottlenecks, and arbitrary practices that were constraining greater efficiency and agility. All of them worked collaboratively to develop a way forward, extending best practices and intelligently applying technology to create more modern and effective business.
