Pizza Hut Named Most Trusted Food Brand in India Pizza Hut Ranked #1 Most Trusted by the Economic Times’ Consumer Poll, Ahead of All Other Global Brands

LOUISVILLE, KY, August 29, 2006 – Pizza Hut has been named the most trusted food brand in India, ahead of all other global brands. Pizza Hut India’s number one ranking adds to the company’s honor of being named the most trusted quick-service restaurant company in India by The Economic Times’ (India) Most Trusted Brands survey for the past three years. Pizza Hut India is part of Yum! Restaurants International (YRI), a division of Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM), the world’s largest restaurant company in terms of system units.

“Over the past 10 years, Yum! Restaurants International has become the largest and fastest growing restaurant company in India,” said Graham Allan, president, Yum! Restaurants International. “Yum is investing significant amounts in India to make our brands available to Indian consumers,” said Allan. “At the same time, we are striving to become part of everyday life in India by positioning Pizza Hut as an international brand with an Indian heart. The enthusiasm for Pizza Hut shown by consumers across all parts of the country encourages us to believe that we can be highly successful in this rapidly growing market,” added Allan.

The Most Trusted Food & Beverage Brands survey, which appears in The Economic Times’ August 20 edition, ranks the top 10 global brands that have earned the trust and loyalty of consumers in India. The survey, conducted by Synovate India, polled more than 100 educated and affluent Indian consumers 21 to 40 years old. Pizza Hut ranked the number one most trusted brand among consumers ages 21 to 30 and 31 to 40.

“Pizza Hut is a strong global brand that has become part of India’s local fabric and our customers’ lives with over 130 restaurants in 32 cities throughout the country,” said Sandeep Kohli, managing director, Yum! Restaurants International India.

“We are honored to be named the number one most trusted food brand,” said Kohli. “The ranking reflects our efforts to successfully develop a strong infrastructure, highly skilled workforce, menu that adapts to local tastes and our passionate franchisees and Customer Maniacs in our restaurants who provide the best products and service to our customers every day.”

In addition to Pizza Hut India’s number one spot on the Most Trusted Food & Beverage Brands list, the company also has been named the most trusted quick-service restaurant brand for the past three years in The Economic Times’ annual Most Trusted Brands ranking that surveys over 7,000 consumers throughout India. According to the annual survey that appeared in The Economic Times’ February 15 edition, Pizza Hut is the number one most trusted food service brand in India and the only restaurant company to place in the Top 25 Service Brands list.

As of the Q2 2006 earnings, the company had 130 Pizza Hut restaurants and 15 KFCs in India.
