Yum! Brands Global Nutrition Guidelines

Yum! Brands recognizes that eating habits vary from society to society based on differences in local food preferences and culture. We believe a balanced diet consists of a variety of foods from the recognized food groups such as grains/rice/cereals; vegetables; dairy; meat/beans; fats; fruits; and optional calories from sweets. We will strive to proactively improve the nutrition profile of our high quality food content, while providing great taste. We always will offer a variety of menu options at each of our brands that can be part of a sensibly-balanced diet. We will educate consumers about our product nutrition and support exercise programs. We want consumers to make informed choices about their balanced diet and incorporate exercise into a healthy lifestyle.

Nutrition Information

To help consumers lead a balanced lifestyle, the company is providing educational information and tools along with product choices. “Keep It Balanced" restaurant posters offer consumers practical health, nutrition and fitness tips and this information can be found on our www.keepitbalanced.com web site as well.

In addition to nutritional brochures available in stores, consumers can download a printable version by visiting any of the company's websites. The websites also feature easy-to-use meal calculators to look up menu nutritional information instantly.

We are also pleased to announce KFC and Taco Bell converted all its U.S. restaurants to zero grams of trans fat cooking oil at the end of April 2007.

Here's a taste of some of the options Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC restaurants provide for consumers:

Taco Bell

Taco Bell® offers a delicious alternative called “Fresco Style" for diners looking to cut fat and calories, but not the flavor. Fresco Style offers nine menu items with less than nine fat grams. Fresco menu items feature a freshly prepared Fiesta Salsa – a zesty mix of diced tomatoes, white onions and cilantro that replaces cheese and sauce. Fiesta Salsa packs in a lot of flavor, but only adds five calories per serving and no fat.

So customers can still enjoy grilled, marinated all-white-meat chicken, seasoned beef and even Carne Asada Steak.

Pizza Hut

With more than 35,000 different topping combinations, pizza at Pizza Hut can be customized for individual preference, taste and lifestyle.

The Fit 'N Delicious pizza offers lower fat options. With 1/2 the amount of cheese, more original sauce and select lean meats and vegetable toppings, the Lower Fat Pizza has 25% less fat than the regular recipe Thin 'N Crispy® pizzas. Lower Fat Pizzas are available in Medium (12") and Large (14"). Customers can choose from 3 set recipes or "create their own" by selecting either chicken or ham and their choice of two vegetables or three vegetables (available vegetables: green peppers, red onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, pineapples or jalapenos).

KFC

Customers can create a variety of relevant meals from KFC's menu, for example, by removing the skin and breading on KFC's Original Recipe® chicken breast (2g of fat) and choosing two homestyle sides, such as corn on the cob (3g of fat), mashed potatoes and gravy (5g of fat), green beans (1.5g of fat) or BBQ beans (1g of fat). Customers can also select the Tender Roast® Sandwich without the sauce (4.5g of fat), a marinated white meat filet slow roasted to juicy perfection topped with fresh lettuce and tomato served on a signature split-top bun or the Tender Roast® Meal (where available) with a side of long-grain rice and a side of southern-style green beans.

On March 24, 2008, KFC announced that it is currently testing grilled chicken. The product is designed to appeal to KFC lovers who say they want nonfried options while staying true to the great taste and quality of KFC’s traditional menu. Kentucky Grilled Chicken is marinated and seasoned with a savory blend of secret herbs and spices and then grilled to juicy perfection. KFC’s Grilled Chicken has between 60 to 180 calories and 3 to 9 grams of fat. Original Recipe chicken has between 130 to 360 calories and 8 to 24 grams of fat.
