Friday, March 28, 2014
Yum!'s 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, which tracks the company's performance and progress across focus areas of food, people, environment and community, is now available online. The report includes updates on the company's goals, as well as success stories from Yum! and its brands around the world, captured in interactive videos and infographics.
"We are proud to share the accomplishments of our brands as they support the commitments we've made to be socially responsible and work to become the Defining Global Company that Feeds the World," said Yum! Senior Vice President, Chief Public Affairs Officer and Global Nutrition Officer Jonathan Blum. "As a global corporate citizen and leader in the restaurant industry, we recognize our responsibility to lead the way in CSR."
Notable achievements from the 2013 report include:
Food: In 2013 we focused on improvement in the nutrition content of the brands' food, with elimination of trans fats from cooking oils and reduction of saturated fats and sodium.
People: KFC UK won the 2014 Top Employer Award from the Top Employers Institute in Britain, becoming the first company to receive the accolade for three consecutive years.
Environment: Yum! is opening new restaurants around the world that are LEED-certifiable. In September of 2013, KFC China celebrated the opening of its first LEED Gold certified restaurant in Beijing.
Community: Together, Yum!, KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell raised a record-breaking $37 million for World Hunger Relief in 2013, bringing total funds raised since 2007 to nearly $185 million, the equivalent of 740 million meals for those in need.
In conjunction with the release of the 2013 CSR Report and in anticipation of Earth Day April 22, Yum! is declaring April "CSR Month." To demonstrate our commitment to CSR, Yum! will share CSR-focused videos, infographics and factoids throughout the month. Join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter using hashtag #CSR.
