KFC South Africa spearheading digital innovation with SoundBite experience

KFC South Africa combined great tasting food and local talent, with a first-of-its-kind KFC SoundBite music platform expereince in the KFC Willows, Bloemfontein restaurant. This flagship restaurant is showcasing ground-breaking technology and celebrating upcoming local artists with its customers.
The one-of-a-kind music platform turns the restaurant’s regular tables into interactive audio tables that boast illustrations by local artists, creating a digital experience where customers can interact directly with the table to play various sound tracks. By placing their elbows on the table’s surface consumers will engage in an immersive musical experience through game-changing technology known as Bone Technology.
In partnership with KFC, Gloo@Ogilvy, a digital division of creative agency Ogilvy & Mather, developed the SoundBite music platform experience. “KFC has been a fantastic partner, allowing us to experiment with bold new thinking and the KFC SoundBite table is a brilliant example of how we can use technology in new innovative ways to create excitement around the brand,” said Ben Evans, National Managing Director, Digital Portfolio, Ogilvy & Mather South Africa.
The KFC SoundBite project launched in partnership with young local musical talent, such as 2Lee Stark, Ginger Breadman, Lebo Lukewarm and Priddy Ugly. Through the sound waves, consumers will hear some of the selected artists’ latest hits using the KFC SoundBite technology. Customers can also find out more about their favorite artists by simply placing their smartphones on the table.
